KP Horary Astrology
A chart for a defined question
Horary or Prashna addresses a particular inquiry rather than requiring a natal chart. A useful question has an identifiable subject, event and time horizon. Receiving a job offer, joining the role and receiving the first salary are distinct milestones.
The number-based system
The conventional KP number method uses an integer from 1 to 249 to identify a sign–star–sub entry for the ascendant. The entries are unequal. A number does not determine all planetary positions; those require a specified query or judgment date and time.
The ascendant-degree selection and construction of other cusps follow the adopted table and calculation convention. The location, ayanamsa and node settings remain part of the chart record. The astrologer's location is used in some traditions, while the exact adopted convention should be explicit.
Horary interpretation
The primary cusp, house grouping, significators and horary-specific conditions provide the main structure. Ruling planets and timing may then be compared. Restrictions concerning retrograde planets require particular care because they should not automatically be imported into natal interpretation.
Repeated inquiries
A materially changed situation can justify a new question. Recasting an unchanged question until a preferred answer appears makes the reasoning difficult to evaluate. Questions about another person may require derived-house analysis and a clear account of whose event is being considered.
